Alexandra Reintjes is an artist, writer, and independent researcher with an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her research in performance studies focuses on narratives, images, and acts of violence. Her work centers accessibility as an epistemological condition that reveals that irreducible difference, limit, and opacity are constitutive of relations. She proposes BDSM as a methodology for surviving encounters with power through restaging such encounters while foregrounding the continued embodied risks inherent in doing so. In her work on disability and queerness within the vexed space between touch and gaze, pain and pleasure are not additive but coextensive.
